NOA A - Brize

Match report by Katy
  • Location: Banbury School
  • Time & date: 16th Nov 2009 20:15
  • Team: Iona, Sharn, Katy, Kelly, Cat, Sophie C, Alex, Sophie H
  • Player of the Match: Kelly
  • Umpire: Karen Newman

Monday night’s game saw the welcome return of Iona Smith to the team who has been out from injury since the beginning of the season, Iona settled back in well starting at GA and then moving to WD. NOA had some good spells of play throughout the game and utilised the movement training to good effect to drive the ball into the attacking circle, especially in the 2nd half of the game. Brize Norton however were fast, efficient and well rehearsed in their set plays and rarely missed shooting opportunities, albeit some excellence interceptions and defending by NOA. NOA’s defence displayed their versatility with the many changes to positions during the game but unfortunately Brize Norton’s attack was just having a better night. A good hard fought game played by all of which we all walked away looking positively on with our developments to work on for the next couple of weeks.

The lovely Alex is off home to New Zealand

The lovely Alex is off home to New Zealand

Hi All, as I’m sure most of you are aware, the lovely Alex with be leaving us in December to return to New Zealand. Now, even though she’s a Kiwi, and the All Blacks whooped us at rugby yesterday, she’s going to be sorely missed.

Keep in touch Alex – hopefully the next time we all meet up will be on New Zealand soil!

Fundraising for the new central venue

Hi all! After our chat at training the other week regarding the fundraising for the new central venue, I thought a few people might be interested in the county’s progress. Below you will find a link to the Oxfordshire Netball website which has a fundraising totaliser.

http://www.oxonnetball.co.uk/

I assume this will be updated as everyone’s fundraising starts to come in, so worth checking back from time to time to see how we are all doing!

Remember that Kelly is handing out fundraising football cards to anyone who wants to give them a go. Each card can make between £10 and £20 for the club depending on how you decide to split it, so worth trying to sell a few! Speak to Kelly at training if you are interested at getting involved!

Vale B 49 - 47 NOA B

Match report by Katy
  • Location: Vale
  • Time & date: 5th Nov 2009
  • Team: Raych, Kirsty, Emma, Amy, Alex, Di, Pip
  • Player of the Match: Diane

First quarter we started off enthusiastically picking up a 5 goal lead but the Vale shooters got back on track by the 2nd quarter pulling even. The 3rd quarter Vale where leading by 5 but after some excellent centre court play by Emma, fantastic shooting by Di and a brilliant defence the just kept on going we managed to pull it back to be only 2 goals behind at the final whistle. A very good game played by everyone and especially thanks to Alex who was recruited last minute to scrape together a team. We are all keen to beat them next half of the season!
